Touring bike rides

During various cycling tours we will explore the beautiful, hilly interior, the paths along the (rugged) west coast and small, typical Spanish villages.

About halfway through the day we will make a lunch stop. We enjoy a traditional Spanish lunch in one of the small villages.

During the cycling tours the emphasis is on enjoying the landscape. So stopping once in a while to take pictures is absolutely no problem at all.

The routes vary from 25 to about 60 km. One day we’re on the road a bit longer, the other day a bit shorter, so you also have enough time to enjoy yourself at the heated swimming pool.

Sometimes a somewhat longer climb through a beautiful hilly landscape.

Practical information

We cycle the tours as a group. At (longer) climbs everyone cycles his/her own pace and we gather on top again. The climbs are rarely very steep (> 6%).

Count on an average cycling speed of 20 km/h, excl. stops. The terrain is continuous (light) up and down, mostly paved and with small parts unpaved.

Motorists are obliged to leave at least 1.5 m between their car and you as a cyclist. This is also really adhered to 🙂 Also on the main roads you can safely cycle without being pushed off the road!

One of the cycling tours takes us to the famous black caves of Ajuy.

Bike

If you bring your own bike, make sure you have at least 15 gears.

The bikes you can rent at Villa Vital are all in excellent condition.

In Spain it is mandatory to wear a bicycle helmet. If you have one yourself, take it with you.

Before, during or after the ride, we will have lunch together in a typically Spanish local restaurant. The average price of this is € 10 – 15 per day.
