On Fuerteventura you can cycle on paved as well as unpaved roads. It is the least populated of the Canary Islands and the second largest. So the roads are usually very quiet, without much truck traffic (there is hardly any industry here).
Fuerteventura is a bicycle-friendly island, because drivers are obliged by law to keep 2 metres distance when overtaking cyclists. This is indicated by signs along the side of the road. If that space isn’t there, they’ll just keep driving behind you until it is, even if you’re cycling with 10 km/h uphill.
We love cycling ourselves and therefore we have several beautiful cycling routes ready for you. For the racing and touring bike as well as for the mountain bike. The routes vary from quiet (25 km and 200 metres altitude) to more challenging (100 km) with more than 1000 metres altitude. The routes are as much as possible on quiet roads with beautiful views. The unpaved routes are mostly over easy paths, so you don’t need any complicated technical skills.
